After an hour or so rest and freshen up, I make my way back towards Jonker Street for some food and a wander through the night market. Food was at Nancy’s Place, a Nyonya restaurant, and I consult my food guide to understand what to order: there are a load of delicious looking things to choose from and I settle on a couple of tasty sounding items:

- "Top hats": a crispy thing shaped like a top hat filled with cooked onion, egg, coriander and carrot
- otak-otak (fish paste block which had a strange texture but was lovely)
- lor bak (pork with herbs wrapped in a soya sheet and fried)
- plus some noodles.
And a large beer.

On the way back to the main part of town, I walked along the riverfront and caught a cruise up and down the river, which was lovely. I was getting a lot of stares from people, but that’s because I am gorgeous, I suspect…
A wander back through the market, picking up a deep-fried carved potato on a stick on the way, brings me back to the hotel and I am knackered after a day of wandering about, eating, climbing hills, wandering through graveyards, up and down spaceships, cruising the river and eating, so I crash for the night.
