Going Once, Going Twice... Orange!

Today is Orange Day – a company “day off” for doing some charity work, and the office here (a mix of different GSK business units) are doing a number of things in order to raise charity for a local school for children with special needs. I'm doing my bit and taking part in an auction to wash cars. The auction was a laugh and my opening bid was 250RM, which with a combination of me and Ali bidding against each other, we manage to get the final amount for me to 950RM – not bad really I guess, seeing as not many people in the auction room knew me and, as one of the bidders commented, "I haven't made that many enemies yet!"

I wander about the stalls that have been set up to make money and buy a few things to eat – jelly, cup cakes (4), doughnuts (2), curry puff and an ice lolly. Hmm – not very nutritious, but I suppose that I need to keep up my strength for my car washing stint…though there seems to be more spraying of water over each other than actually onto the cars, drenching everyone completely: but all harmless fun I suppose…

I stop at this massage stall, where they are demonstrating this electronic massager thing that you stick to parts of your body (in my case, my hands) and then apply various different massage techniques. Well I have never had anything quite like that – it was like an electric shock running through my body and made the nerves on my hand and arm dance a merry tune, cramping up and then spasm-ing, making my arms and hands shake and wobble uncontrollably!

And this was at the very lowest setting, so I asked one of the demonstrators to turn up the power a little bit, causing my hand and arm muscles to react more violently to the stimulus by going into a spastic overload! The girl demonstrator looked maniacally at me and asked whether I wanted more…I am sure she was really into Chinese torture!
