Off To Ipoh

It's Malaysia Day, which means that it's a three-day weekend and I have been invited to got to Ipoh with some friends. We were going to head off on the Friday night, but I had to work, so I agreed to heading off very early the next morning...

…urgh, 5 am and on a public holiday –

By 6 we were on the way, and stop on the way for duck noodles in a famous place in Bidor that I'd been to about a year ago – and they are still delicious! It’s not long after that we are pulling into Ipoh and to the coffee shop Adrian's parents are in with some of their friends – and a coffee later we head back to their place. We decide to head out to a place called Clear Water (a reclaimed golf course and lake), changing our minds at the last minute and go for food instead to the most delicious fish lunch – fresh prawns (deep fried in butter and this sort of angel hair stuff which was really lovely.

The steamed prawns were also nice, but they were cooked in a wine and egg white sauce, the latter of which was still runny, so I tried to avoid it: however, Adrian's dad kept spooning more onto my plate, and rather than say no, risking offence, I had to eat a lot more of it than I wanted to.

I noticed that the restaurant had a load of old photos of London landmarks, which was rather a nice touch to make me feel at home...
